Members of the community- parents, workers, providers, and business owners- are invited to participate in a listening session to share personal experiences with the child care crisis.
Child care is a critical component of a thriving economy. Access to affordable child care is essential for parents to return to the workforce and maintain quality employment. However, many communities across North Dakota lack accessible and affordable child care to meet the demand for our state’s working families, and many child care workers earn wages just above poverty level. In partnership with ND Voices Network, advocates and organizations from across the state are joining forces to seek real solutions that address the state’s child care crisis.
The North Dakota Child Care Action Alliance (NDCCAA), a statewide grassroots coalition, is officially launching their campaign with a series of listening sessions to hear directly from the community. Similar to focus groups, these listening sessions are facilitated discussions with groups of parents, providers, child care workers, and business owners in the community.
The goal of the listening sessions is to hear from the community and to better understand the real life impacts of accessing affordable, quality child care to help shape solutions. A better child care system is in reach for North Dakota. To get there, policymakers must focus on long-term solutions and balance the needs of families and child care providers.
